Admissions

Admission to the Advanced Certificate Program in Self Psychology and Religion is open to:

  • Any clinician who has achieved a minimum of a master’s level proficiency in a discipline related to the field of psychotherapy (i.e., psychology, social work, counseling, pastoral counseling, chaplaincy, psychiatric nursing, etc.),

  • Ordained persons with a master’s level proficiency in divinity, theology, ministry, or a related field, or

  • Students currently working toward these degrees in these fields.

Applications for admission are typically due in the middle to late March. Admission decisions are generally offered by the middle of June. The admissions process consists of the following:

  • Submit a completed application, which includes two letters of recommendation, a statement of intent, official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, and a $100 application fee.

  • An in-person interview, once materials are received.

Admission is determined, to some degree, on how students will use their CRPC education. Students who wish to use this program toward licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois or otherwise should know that, for the time being, the Advanced Certificate in Self Psychology and Religion in itself does not provide all the requirements that are needed to take the relevant licensure examinations. If one is seeking licensure through CRPC, one must also seek admissions with and enroll collaboratively in one of the relevant degree-granting programs at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (G-ETS), namely, the Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling (Clinical Track) or the Doctor of Philosophy with a concentration in Pastoral Theology, Personality, and Culture (Clinical Track).
